“There is beauty in the moment of discovery, when a forgotten fabric finds its way to me. The instant I see or touch it, ideas start to bloom; its texture and character already suggest what it might become.”
Hello, I’m Doró, the creator behind Doro Upcycling.
I live in the beautiful mountains of Transylvania, Romania, where I blend my background in costume design with my love for textiles and sustainability. Working behind the scenes in the world of performance taught me to see fabric not just as material, but as memory — full of texture, imagination, and stories waiting to be retold.
Doro Upcycling began with a love for fabrics and a habit of giving them a second life. Back when I was designing costumes, I often found myself surrounded by beautiful leftovers — pieces too small for the stage, but too special to throw away. Whenever I forgot my hair elastic, I’d make a quick ponytail tie from a scrap of cloth. One day, from those remnants I started sewing scrunchies for myself. That is how Doro Upcycling was born.
Today, I turn forgotten textiles — from my own wardrobe, friends’ donations, second-hand finds, and creative ateliers — into stylish, one-of-a-kind hair accessories and sustainable seasonal decorations. Each piece is handmade and truly unique, inspired by the fabric’s past life and the joy of creating something lasting. My materials come in small, serendipitous quantities, which means every creation is limited and special, shaped by what I happen to discover.
Doro Upcycling is rooted in an eco-conscious mindset and a belief in slow fashion — in choosing what we wear and decorate with more thoughtfully, and finding beauty in what already exists. It’s not about being perfectly sustainable; it’s about trying, caring, and creating with intention.
“Here, forgotten fabrics find new magic — and every thread tells a little story of renewal.”
